Connect a HostGator domain
Connect your HostGator domain to a Pineapple website by adding the DNS records shown in that website's domain settings. Domain registration stays with your registrar; the website stays in Pineapple.
Get the required records from Pineapple
Select the correct workspace and website. Open Settings → Domain, enter your domain, select its provider and choose Connect domain. You need workspace owner access and a plan with custom-domain support.
Keep the resulting DNS records screen open. Copy its current values rather than using an IP address or destination from an older tutorial.
Update DNS at HostGator
Sign in to the HostGator Customer Portal and open Domains.
Choose your domain if more than one is listed, then open DNS.
Under Manage Advanced DNS Records, select Add Record.
Choose a single record, select its type and enter the values from Pineapple, then select Add.
To correct an existing record, use its edit action instead of adding a second conflicting entry. HostGator also offers a multiple-record flow if you prefer to enter several required records together.
These steps follow HostGator's current Customer Portal DNS guide. If the domain uses another company's nameservers, update that company's DNS zone instead.
Check the connection
Add any ownership-verification TXT record requested by Pineapple. Remove only the specific conflicting website records identified during setup; preserve email-related MX records and unrelated TXT records.
Return to Pineapple after saving the changes and check the connection. Allow time for DNS changes to become visible. Check both the root domain and www version, and complete Finish setup if it is offered.
A connected domain still needs published pages. Make sure your homepage is published, then open the website using the domain.
