Use business email with your domain

Your website and business email can use the same domain while being hosted by different services. Pineapple hosts your website; an email provider manages mailboxes such as hello@yourbusiness.com.

Connecting a domain to Pineapple does not create a mailbox. A website subscription, domain registration and email subscription are separate services.

If you already have working email

Keep the existing email records when connecting your website. Pineapple's setup tells you which website records to add or resolve; it does not require you to replace the entire DNS zone.

Preserve your email provider's MX records and its verification or authentication records. If you change nameservers, make sure the new DNS zone also contains the records needed for email before completing the change.

Use the current values from Pineapple domain setup for the website connection.

Set up a new business mailbox

Choose an email provider, create the mailbox and follow that provider's domain-verification and DNS instructions. Enter its current records at your active DNS host, then complete any activation steps in the provider's dashboard.

For provider-specific instructions, see Google Workspace email setup or Microsoft 365 domain setup.

Changing MX records changes where incoming mail is delivered. If you are replacing an existing email service, follow the new provider's migration steps so you can keep receiving mail during the change.

Send website enquiries to that mailbox

Once the mailbox works, choose where Pineapple routes contact-form submissions:

  1. Open the website's Settings → General.

  2. Find Contact Form Emails.

  3. Enter the mailbox in Recipient email.

  4. Select Save recipient.

Leave the field blank to use the workspace owner's email. This setting chooses the recipient of website enquiries; it does not create or configure an email account.

Submit a test enquiry from your published website and check the intended mailbox, including spam folders.

Website works but email does not

Review the email provider's required DNS records and the domain's active nameservers. A successful Pineapple website connection does not prove that email is configured correctly.
