Map or directions link? Help visitors find your business

Choose the right map, directions link and arrival details for your salon, café or studio.

Your next salon appointment may be with someone who has never visited before. They need more than a pin: they need the right address, the right entrance and a clear way to plan the journey.

A good contact section answers both “Where are you?” and “Where do I go when I arrive?” Here is how to choose between an embedded map, a directions link and a simple address.

Start with what your visitor needs

  • To copy the address: show the full address as ordinary text, including the postcode or ZIP code.

  • To plan a journey: add an “Open in Google Maps” link to the correct branch.

  • To recognise the area: include an embedded map with useful nearby streets visible.

  • To find the entrance: add a short, accurate arrival note beside the address.

If customers do not visit your premises, contact details and your service area may be more useful than a visiting map. Do not add a map simply to fill space.

A salon example your visitors can understand

This fictional Willow Studio page brings services, a booking action and a map together. The map supports the visit rather than competing with the rest of the page.

For your own salon, café or studio, add your verified address and any detail a first-time visitor needs: the entrance, floor, reception or appointment requirement. Describe only what is true for your premises.

A business name alone can match the wrong branch. Compare the place name, street and postcode or ZIP code in Google Maps with the address on your page.

Google supports sharing a location or a prepared route. Choose the destination before writing the link label:

  • “Open in Google Maps” fits a location link where visitors can choose their journey.

  • “Directions to our main entrance” fits only when you have checked that the destination identifies that entrance.

If you share a route, make sure it does not start at your own home or another irrelevant origin. Changing an embedded map’s zoom does not correct the destination: fix the location first.

Add the map in Pineapple

On a paid Pineapple plan, add the Google Maps block with your business name or full address. You do not need to supply your own Google API key. Follow the illustrated Google Maps setup guide for the editor steps and appearance settings.

Keep your address, arrival note and location link outside the map, so they remain readable if the map does not load. In the editor, clicking the map selects its block; use the saved preview to interact with the map.

Check the page as a first-time visitor

Open the saved contact page preview on your phone:

  • Can you copy the full address without touching the map?

  • Does the location link open the correct place and branch?

  • Is it clear which entrance or reception to use?

  • Can you scroll past the map and reach the contact details?

Fix anything that makes you hesitate. Then publish the reviewed page and check the public version too. Saving a draft alone does not update your live website.

Start with one useful contact section: the right destination, the detail that makes arrival easier, and one clear next step.
