Translate and publish your website in more languages
Use Translations to manage language versions of your website. Treat each version as content that needs review before visitors see it. The feature is currently labelled Beta.
Prepare the main website first
Check the main-language content, page structure, links and business details. Translating an unfinished page creates more versions to maintain.
Open the correct website's Translations tab. Check the access requirements and AI usage available in your workspace. Translation generation and public publication are separate steps.
Choose website languages
Under Website languages, review the default language and add the supported languages visitors should be able to select. Change the main language in Website Settings when needed, rather than treating an additional translation as the default website.
Wait for the language settings to finish updating. Start with the languages your customers actually need and that you can review reliably.
Change the main language without adding a translation
Open website Settings, find Website language, and choose the language used by the main page content. Wait for the update to finish. There is no separate Save button for this language selector.
This setting does not translate your paragraphs, images or embedded services. If the main content is in English, changing the setting to French does not produce a French website. Edit the original text or create a reviewed French version through Translations.
Translate a page
In Pages, find the page and target language. Choose Translate for a missing version or Translate again when refreshing an existing version. Wait for the result and inspect its status.
Not translated means no prepared version is available. Ready to publish means a translation is ready for review and publication. Needs update means the version requires attention after source changes. A failed translation needs investigation before retrying or publishing.
Preview and review
Choose Preview for a ready translation. Check meaning, service details, names, prices, button labels, links and text that may wrap differently. Ask a fluent reviewer to check important customer-facing content when needed.
Do not assume that changing the language setting translates every image, embedded tool or external booking service. Check those destinations separately.
Publish the language version
Publish the main page first. A translation cannot be published from this dashboard while its main page is still a draft. When the translation is ready and reviewed, choose Publish for that language.
Use View live to inspect the published version. Test the website's language picker and navigation, and confirm visitors can reach the expected page. A successful preview is not proof of public publication.
Keep translations current
After changing the source page, return to Translations and check which versions need updates. Generate and review the updated versions, then republish them. Ready to republish means updated content is prepared but still needs publication.
