The Why?
This is the most important step. If you have a side of doubt about the results you are after, you are going to fail. This is how critical this is.
For each result take a pen and paper and answer the following question:
1. Why do you want X result?
This will help clarify your motivations and reinforce your commitment to achieving it. Knowing your "why" will serve as a guiding light during challenging times and keep you focused on your goals. It can also reveal whether your desired outcome aligns with your values and long-term aspirations. Once you have a clear understanding of your motivation, it will be easier to develop actionable steps toward your goal and stay resilient in the face of setbacks.
Remember, a strong and meaningful "why" is the foundation of sustained effort and success.
2. How will your life look like when you get this result?
Visualizing the outcome can be a powerful motivator. Imagine the changes that achieving this goal will bring to your life. Consider how it will affect your daily routine, relationships, and overall sense of fulfillment. This mental picture will not only inspire you but also provide a tangible target to work towards. It allows you to see the benefits of your hard work and dedication, making the journey more rewarding.
Furthermore, by having a vivid image of your future success, you can identify potential obstacles and plan accordingly to overcome them. This foresight will enable you to adapt and remain determined as you pursue your objectives.
3. What will happen if you fail? Is it painful?
Consider what will happen if you fail. Is it painful? Take a moment to truly understand how your life might look without achieving this goal. Reflect on whether not reaching this objective will significantly impact your life now and in the long run. It's important to recognize the potential regret or disappointment of not achieving this result. Fear can be a powerful motivator for us as humans, although it shouldn't be our primary driving force. However, when challenges arise, remind yourself why you're striving for this goal and why it's crucial to succeed. Embrace the discomfort when necessary and let it fuel your determination only when needed.
4. Are you 1000% committed and certain?
When setting goals, it's crucial to ask yourself: "Am I 100% certain I can and will achieve this?" Confidence in your ability to reach your goals is a powerful motivator. If you find yourself hesitating or feeling unsure, it might be time to revisit your initial plan. Go back to step 1, reassess your objectives, and make necessary adjustments. Remember, clarity and certainty are key components in the journey to success.
It's important not to get bogged down by the "how" of achieving your goals or worry about the fact that you've never done it before. What truly matters is your commitment to doing whatever it takes to succeed. As long as you have the drive and excitement, you'll find a way to make it happen. Often, the answers will appear on their own, as your brain works on solving challenges unconsciously—even while you sleep. Stay committed, and let your passion guide you to success.
Repeat
If needed, revisit and adjust the goals you set for yourself. Be honest about what you truly want to achieve. If there's insufficient motivation or urgency, modify your objectives accordingly. Aim higher or scale back as necessary, but ensure you've addressed these key points before moving on to defining actions.
Be 100% certain that if you're willing to put in the effort, you can achieve it and recognize its importance to you. Then go to the next 3rd step.
